About Me

Hi, I'm Shweta, and I'm excited to help you master nutritious, globally inspired vegetarian and vegan recipes.
Welcome to Share the Spice - I'm so glad you're here.
Keep reading to learn about me, why I started this blog, and so much more!
A Quick About Me
Food has always been intertwined with my interest in health and nutrition, and holding an educational background in nutrition and public health helps me share my knowledge with the world. I'm passionate about helping families incorporate more plant-filled meals into their daily lives.
I grew up in a lacto-vegetarian household, where food was more than just a meal - it was how our family connected to culture, tradition, and each other. Those early experiences in the kitchen shaped the way I cook today: colorful, spice-filled meals that bring people together around the table. Many of the recipes you'll find here are inspired by the foods I grew up eating and the global dishes I love experimenting with in my own kitchen.
What you'll find on Share the Spice:
Here you'll find a wide variety of approachable vegetarian recipes designed for real life. My collection of recipes includes ones that are authentic to my Indian roots AND the food I've grown up experimenting with as a vegetarian growing up in West Texas. As a lacto-vegetarian, all of my recipes are egg-free (my favorite being these chocolate chip cookies!), and many are vegan.
My goal is to show that plant-forward cooking can be:
- Flavorful
- Nourishing
- Simple for busy weeknights
You'll discover recipes like:
- Comforting soups
- Plant-forward dishes
- Global vegetarian meals
- Quick dinners for busy families
- Eggless desserts and treats
Why I Started A Vegetarian and Vegan Recipes Blog
Like many moms, I struggled to find a career path that allowed me to do meaningful work while still being present with my family. Creating this blog gave me the chance to combine my passions for nutrition, cooking, and creativity into something I could build on my own terms.
In 2024, my relationship with food became even more intentional when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Going through treatment and recovery reminded me how powerful nourishment, community, and small daily rituals like cooking can be. While Share the Spice has always been about celebrating flavorful vegetarian cooking, my experience also deepened my appreciation for meals that help us feel supported, energized, and connected.
Today, Share the Spice has become a place where I can share the recipes I love while connecting with readers from around the world who are also exploring vegetarian cooking.
Why nourishing recipes?
Chronic diseases are on the rise, and they don't have to be. One of the four main risk factors for chronic diseases is poor nutrition. I care that you are around and full of energy with your loved ones for as long as you can! With that said, keep in mind that food moderation is key; food deprivation is NOT.
With a background in nutrition and public health, my hope is to show you that healthy foods don't have to be boring or complicated. Through Share the Spice, you will find healthy ones, some indulgent ones, and many quick and convenient ones for busy families.

Life Beyond the Kitchen
I currently reside in Texas with my husband and our two kids.
Motherhood has shaped the way I cook more than anything else - most nights I'm just trying to get a delicious, nourishing dinner on the table that everyone will actually eat.
When I'm not testing recipes, you'll usually find me:
- Exploring new restaurants
- Traveling with my family
- Reading novels
- Working on creative projects
- Enjoying a good cup of coffee somewhere new
- Getting trained to be a health coach!
More about my Blog
I focus on approachable vegetarian cooking that balances flavor, nutrition, and simplicity. My background in nutrition and public health informs the way I develop recipes, helping readers incorporate more plant-based foods into their everyday meals.
